That sums up this morning's pre-dawn bird efforts. Topo maps in hand, we went searching for nests. Looking for birds, I stumbled across a bison! Full story tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's the closest I got to a bird today, which was in our late morning lesson on collecting birds and banding them.

This sounds much more interesting than mutual fund shareholder reports.
Change is great, but I don't know if I'd want these hazards every day of the year. In three days, I've skidded through mud, been pooped on, sunburned, bitten by mosquitos, and taunted by songbirds I can't locate.
...but I'd do it again, no doubt.
If I had to choose, I too would go for the bird rather than the bison! Good thinking Lindsey. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and the pic of the little bird brings the whole expedition to life. Since you started your study I have been looking at the birds in our own backyard (even if it is only in the suburbs of Dublin) with new eyes and listening with new ears. Wonderful. Will continue to follow your reports with enthusiasm.
